Hair transplant FAQs
Does it hurt?
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during it. Most people describe the anaesthetic injections as the only uncomfortable part. Afterwards there is usually mild soreness and tightness for a few days, which is managed with ordinary pain relief.
How long does the procedure take?
Most cases are completed in a single day. The exact length depends on the number of grafts.
How much time do I need off work?
Four to five days is what we usually recommend. You can go back sooner, but the first few days involve some swelling and visible redness in the recipient area.
When will I see results?
The transplanted hair sheds at around two to three weeks — this is normal. New growth starts at roughly three months, thickens through months six to nine, and the final result is clear at twelve to eighteen months.
Will there be scarring?
FUE does not leave a linear scar. The donor area heals as tiny dots that are not visible once the hair grows back, even at short lengths.
Is it permanent?
Yes. The transplanted follicles come from areas that are genetically resistant to hair loss, and they keep that resistance once moved. They are yours for life.
Can I still lose hair around the transplant?
Yes — a transplant restores what has already gone, but it does not stop hair loss elsewhere from progressing. We will talk you through how to protect the hair you still have at your consultation.
Am I too old, or too young?
Age matters less than pattern. What matters is whether your hair loss has settled into a predictable pattern and whether you have enough donor hair. We treat patients across a wide age range, and we will tell you honestly if waiting would give you a better long-term result.
How much does a hair transplant cost?
From £2,999, or from £249 a month over 12 months. Your exact price depends on graft count and is fixed in writing at your consultation.
What if I've already had a transplant elsewhere?
Come in anyway. We see patients who want density added to earlier work or a hairline corrected, and we will give you a straight assessment of what can be improved.
